Prepare A Vegan Cake

The various reasons, which make a person vegetarian, are religion, politics, finances, health, or simply personal preference. However, vegan or non-vegan – one thing that is common is that everyone prefers food that tastes delicious and provides good nutrition.

The idea that it’s possible to create heart-healthy cake may sound like an oxymoron, but it is very much possible to make a delicious vegan cake. To whip up such a mixture we just need to reinstate some less healthy components with the nutritious ones. Initially, it’s very difficult to bake a cake for a vegetarian friend or relative who do not eat egg, drink milk, eat different type of sugar, or butter or eat frosting but it can be done.

Eggs add flavor and richness to a cake but more importantly, they are responsible for much of the structure of the cake. So in an eggless cake eggs need to be replaced by energy egg replacer, which you can easily purchase from a health food store near your house. But be sure to read the content properly before using it for your friend’s sake.

One thing that is easy to replace in a recipe is milk. Look around and you will find several options of viable substitutes for non-dairy milk products. There are many choices of commercially prepared non-dairy milk substitutes. It’s common to use soya milk. If the recipe is light in flavor such as vanilla cake it’s better to use vanilla-flavored soya milk instead of plain. Another ideal choice is rice milk. It’s more dilute than the soya milk and will produce a thinner batter. Almond milk and other milk are also good when preparing a vegan cake. Trial and apply, what you think is right.

Often vegetarians do not eat sugar whitened by bone char. So in order to bake a cake for them it’s better to use unbleached sugar, sugar in the raw, or beet sugar. One can also use cane sugar by knowing the exact brand name. Even though synthetic sugars like Sucralose, Aspartame, Xylitol, and Splenda are supposedly low-calorie, there are several health specialists who suggest that these are not healthy. It’s still better to use usual sweeteners like stevia root. If you are not aware of the properties of stevia, then make it a point to gather some knowledge on stevia. Remember stevia is a great substitute for unhealthy sugar.

Butter in a vegan cake can be replaced with margarine or vegetable shortening. Vegetarians also do not eat dairy frosting. So we can either look for non-dairy frosting or make our own by replacing butter with margarine. If we follow the above few simple techniques one can make vegetarian baking consistently terrific and no one will be able to taste the difference.
